Wireless flash trigger problems

  • Ok, i've just bought some wireless flash triggers and i've encountered a problem...

First of all i'm using a Canon EOS 350D with 580ex Speedlite

The wireless kit is this one here...

Now the triggering kit works perfectly by itself when I press the test button and when I fit the transmitter to the camera and press the shutter button it all goes like is should go.

If I have the camera turned on with the transmitter fitted and then fit the 580ex to a receiver, turn the flash gun on... all is fine until I turn the receiver on and the flash goes berzerk, goes off randomly and I can't control it.

I've put the flash into slave mode, master, etc... nothing stops the random flash discharge.

    Ideas anyone?

  • What happens is the flash reaches full charge, the receiver then 'triggers' and the flash discharges and I have no control over it...very frustrating.

    I'm running out of ideas.

  • Is it radio or IR?

If it's IR, make sure there is nothing broadcasting an infrared signal in the room (for example, flourescent lighting or remote controls).

  • It's FM Radio, there's nothing in my room that I can see that's triggering it off...

  • it could, honestly, be tuned to a local radio station.

That would suck. I don't really know what to do about that.
