We are all going to die, so what's the point?

I'm a college student sitting here contemplating life. It's a stressful time for me with finals, and I'm thinking what's the point of this. Yes, I do want to do well in school and get a good job. But I think ok if I do get a job..so what? I'll be making money the rest of my life. It's just money...I don't want to be a slave to money and society all my life. I know there has to be more to life than this? And then I think, well I'm just going to die, so all this doesn't matter anyway. We've all contemplated the meaning of our existences at some point, some sooner, and some later.
The truth is that life is pointless. You are born, you suffer, you die. No one knows exactly what happens in the afterlife.
I was at the point when I was ready to give up everything, but then I opened my eyes to the world around me. I took a breath of the ocean air that surrounds my home, and it tasted so good on my tongue. I smelt the warm scent of the candle in the kitchen, and it was the most satisfying thing in the world. I brushed my hand down the face of the one I love, and she is the most beautiful thing in the world. I hear my friend crack a poor joke, and I laugh until tears stream down my face.
I realized the point of life is everything. The wind tussling your hair, tripping on a stone during a walk, and the spicy food tickling your tongue. I'm not sure what lies in the afterlife, but that is of none of my concern, because life right now feels so good. The point is whatever you want it to be. Life is not a homework assignment handed out to us by instructors who are expecting a certain narrow range of correct or incorrect answers. Life is more like a thought experiment being contemplated upon by that which some call "God".
But realizing that the world isn't going to provide the answers for you - that's a scary thing. It takes courage to realize that nobody's at the helm and you've got to take hold of the wheel - lest the fate of your voyage rest entirely upon the whims of chaos.
We do not ask the world why we are here. We _tell_ the world why we are here. :-)i thought about this awhile ago too. i came to the conclusion that life is short, so why not make myself happy?
it's kind of the opposite of what you were thinking. why not pursue your dream? that way when you get old and get to look back on it, you have no regrets. treat yourself nicely. stay in school and try your hardest.
i'm sure it'll pay off.
plus, you won't become a slave to money, you can just use that money for good purposes, right? like getting yourself nice things.. donating.. or whatever.Good question, what is the point since we are all going to die? Deep, yes. Meantime, I hope there's still left to go get a burger with my gf. We might even get married and raise a few kids while we are waiting for the pointless end. But there are a lot of good points between here and there. You, my friend, are fucked up.The point of life is to live according to your choices and to end up happy. Without obstacles life isn't worth living, but with them it is the greatest gift given to us by God. We are suppose to find our purpose in life and fulfill our destiny to move on to the next life. Sitting around contemplating why is life important is an interesting observation. However, I believe deep down inside we all know why life is important. Death is our final goodbyes to life we have created for ourselves and the problems we were able to overcome. Life is just as important as death is. A break through.
I have the same thoughts.
When I'm older I see me loving some where free off the land, with a garden. Just living simple and happy.
I hate how we have to be poor, to take classes that will never apply to our lives, so we can get a job to give money to the government. Maybe my dream life will be in another country.
Don't worry though, you aren't the only one. I have tons of friends who are going through the same thing.Yes, we are all going to die.
BUT, there is a world, and we're here living now. If we were all dead, there'd be no purpose for the world to be here.It doesn't matter if you catch the ball with one hand or two, what matters is ,someone threw it, and you cought it , weather it was fun or not was the issue , the ball was thrown out of the serch for something fun to do . I suggest dribbling , but a soft ball is very hard to bounce .enjoy your ride .think what u can use your money for, go on vacations, do extreme sports, skydiving, scuba diving? exploring the world... visiting important people...
what will people at your funeral say about you?Yes, everyone is going to die, so why wouldn't you make the most of the time you've got. If you want to conform to society's view of successful which mean having lots of money then go ahead but if that is not something you want then find what you want. I personally like a challenge and want to go well and have goals... the thought of dying too early frightens me as i feel there is more I can offer and achieve. Maybe you should set some goals of what YOU really want to do because contemplating the worthiness of life is just stupid.. many people do not get the opportunities we do to have these options so make the most of it... if you keep waiting for death life is going to pass you by!!You're questioning your priorities and looking for meaning and that's wonderful. The longest journey begins with one step, and you have taken that. The choices are all yours, no one can live your life but you. I have found that helping others helps me- gives me purpose and confidence. I have learned that the only importance ANYthing has for me is the importance I give it. I don't believe death IS the end at all. Good luck, Honey. Have a happy journey!Yes we are all going to die but we have to live and Love all our lives to the point of death.
Love transcends everything and it goes well beyond the grave. First we love God with all our hearts and all our minds and then we love our neighbours as we ourselves would want to be loved.
That covers everything in our lives and it takes our souls well beyond the grave.
That's the point of our lives. "To Love".
It's simple really, and too many men and women disregard that for it's simplicity. However ... simple doesn't mean easy.
Just try it for the rest of your life. Love one and all, God first then your neighbour and you will see just how hard it is. You will also see the rewards gained decade after decade the whole of your life and the material world will shrink with every passing year you live. #If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
