regarding the name of the medicine Periostat, in addition to searching
for verification on the internet.
Periostat is one of the brand names given to the antibiotic
Doxycycline or Doxycycline Hyclate for dental care.
The original name was Vibramycin which is a broad spectrum antibotic.
A few years ago a drug company came out with the name Periostat (which
is more expensive) selling it for dental care. Doxyclicline is the
chemical name - exact same characteristics - and it's also marketed
under other brand names.
