  • If you choose a train that only stops at Leicester then the train journey is only 1:45. In fact I went last weekend and it arrived in London early and only took a fraction over 1:30.

Hyde Park and the winter wonderland is really nice. It has an outdoor ice rink, big wheel similar in style as the london eye, German market, rides, stalls, places to eat and drink etc. It was better and bigger than I expected, but if you want to go on the ice rink or big wheel then you will need to pre-book tickets.

I found a couple of photos (not the best but it does show the big wheel and some lights) at the follow site: http://www.populartouristattractions.co....

  • From Nottingham take GNER into St Pancras (2h 20mins). Then take a tube to Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly Line). There is not much there at the moment but make sure you walk around the lake. If you get here in the morning it looks crisp white and beautiful!

  • St Pancras to Nottingham, it takes about 2 hours and 15/20 minutes. (It's the same going back as well!)
    Long train ride :/
Can't help with the Hyde Park thing though, sorry!
