If you could only have two filters...

  • what would they be?

  • not counting the cluseup filters? polarizer and uv, though i am partial to my skylight and 82a filters

  • UV (protection) & circular polarizer.

  • Polarizer, and macro coupler ring!

Muhahaha! It's a filter! No really!

    ;)

  • Polarizer
    Red #25

That would be my pick as well. And if we could only have 3 I'd add yellow as that's all I really ever use at all anymore.

Yellow would be pick #3 for me as well. I use one much more often than the #25, but I could live without it if I had to. I don't use the pol or #25 as much, but when I do they are indespensible.
We see eye to eye on the first two.Love the effect red has on BW.
    My third would be Yellow-Green

    Obs
My photog teacher closes in with cir polarizer and warm up amber

  • UV (lens protector) & polarizer.

  • Polariser, and 0.9ND (or 0.6... can't decide which I'd use more) Grad for skies - mostly because I do a lot of landscapes.

  • Scott --

You said you were planning on picking up two filters for each lens. There's a cheaper way.

I also have two lenses, each with a different diameter. But I use the same filters on both. How? I use step-up rings for the SMALLER diameter lens. This lets me use the filter for the larger lens on my smaller lens while avoiding vignetting. The rings are lots cheaper than a second filter.

    Works for me.

  • I only have 2 filters as well. 2 UV's one for each lens. I really just have them as lens protectors.

  • Well I guess a polarizer is a universal choice. I'm assuming that with didgital my 80A filter is no longer needed (youwhite balance dig correct?)

I'm planning on picking up a circular polarizer and a UV filter for each lens. What is an IR filter? Infra-Red? How does that work?

Take a look at this page. It's geared towards digital to.

  • 1. Cir. Polarizer
    2. Close up filters

  • Polarizer, IR

  • B&W cir pol and UV.

  • Circ. Polarizer and ND 2

  • Polarizer
    Red #25

  • Polarizer and #2 closeup for me.

  • IR and polarizer in my opinion

  • 1. red
    2. polarizer

if 3.... light green may be

  • Polarizer and Warming Up filter.

  • My two top choices are a yellow/green for B/W film and FX1 (soft focus) for color portraits

  • I only have two as well. Well, I have three, but I've only bought two. One came with a lens. So the two filters... A circular polarizer and an ND4.

  • Circ. polarizer and...wait, no, ahhh...how about...?
