Domenech Re-signs

  • I think he only allows a limited amount of Leos on the team, but when it comes to Scorpios he just keeps them of the squad completely. Yeah there is no way to deny him an extension considering the success they had. I think his tactics cost us the title. We should have been moving forward with two strikers. I'm pretty sure with the pressure we put on the Italians a second striker would have completed the icing on the cake.
    In all reality guys, how could FFF deny him the oppurtunity to coach again. The results on paper said he took a french team that some were questioning even making it out of their group stage to twice within inches of lifting the trophy. Now some might say he had very little to do with the turn around, but he is still the coach and he has to be rewarded with another oppurtunity. with saying all that i'm not particularly happy with it either.




    I thought he had a problem with Leo's?


  • I'd like to know how the French feel about Domenech's tactics in this WC ?

    I've posted in other boards saying I thought he was too defensive by concentratin on closing the midfield. Obviously he showed the team has talent to shut any team down with that style, but I felt there wasn't enough support up front to create more goal scoring chances. I was disappointed to see a talent like Henry mis-used and underutlized throughout most of the tournment.

When every player spoke about the turn around point, domenech was not even mentioned (and this is after everyone seemed to get along!). Rather it was Aime Jacquet and the fitness staff. I won't pretend to know everything that goes on in the camp, but imo there are no examples of when domenech actually did some exceptional coaching. none.

    That said, i like him more now after seeing him get along with the players, but we need to start over after this run, and keeping the guy that has laden the team with so much baggage and stuck in the past (remember he is a stubborn guy) is only holding us back.

    OK. I think he is a better manager than some give him credit for. But I agree with the "fresh start" thing too. We'll see. He'll most likely be gone after '08 no matter what happens. Unless perhaps France wins at Euro '08.

  • Is this really true ? What players are good examples ?

    He made comments saying Scorpios are terrible for the team atmosphere, they are troubled players. When he came to Lyon he got rid of alot of scorpios aswell. So Anelka, Pires & Guily probably won't get called anything soon (though Pires is kinda done anyways).

    He claims that he only looks at the star signs if the qualities are equal. But who knows what really goes on.

  • He has shown signs of evolution (advice ?) during this campaign, hopefully he's able of evolving furthermore. But, well, it takes so much time. Concerning coaching during matches, he's still poor at that. He's serious in his approach but he has no reactivity, he seems unable to improvise. So if the course is good, OK ; otherwise, we just stay with the same and try and deal with it...

    Henry AND Gallas are Leos (August 17), but bet your ass thats why he made some exceptions for that astrological sign :rolleyes:
