I have installed my CX4600-EPSON, with the install cd and also just by
downloading from Epson's web site. My Control panel shows the Epson
printer as installed and it is set as default printer. It will not do
anything at all when I try to print from my computer.I have the same printer, it is a USB printer. Since you said "Control
Panel" I would guess your using MS Windows and not a MAC and I'm going
to assume some version of Windows XP. If this is not the case let me
know.
I'm going to cover some entry level user details so please don't get
offended. If you're downloading drivers you're probably know more
than I am going to give you credit for. So like Denzel said, I'm
going to explain it to you like you were a 3rd grader.
Be sure to delete all print jobs from the printers print queue.
(Click Control Panel, Printers and Faxes, double click on the "Espon
Stylus CX4600 printer", click "Printer" "Cancel all documents") There
should be no documents listed under the heading "Document Name".
The drivers should come from this link:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=25723&prodoid=36478885&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows
Make sure you load the "Printer Driver" and the "TWAIN/scanner
driver". Since it is a multifunction printer Windows likes to be able
recognize it both ways. Otherwise you may not be getting past the
scanner recognition associated with Windows.
Assuming you load both successfully. Go to "Control Panel" then
"Printers and Faxes". You will see the status of the printer "Ready"
or "Offline". If it says "Ready" the PC recongizes printer. If it
says "Offline", windows does not see it. You can unplug the printers
USB cable and it will switch from "Ready" to "Offline", turning the
printer off and on will do the same thing.
If it says "Offline" and your having problems focus on the hardware
and drivers. Be sure to press the little button labeled "On", you'll
have a green light when its on. If it is "On" with a green light, and
plugged into a USB port you should get a status of "Ready". Be sure
you load the paper into the back vertical tray, not the front
horizontal tray which is an exit tray.
If is says "Ready" you want to test it by going to "Control Panel",
"Printers & Faxes", RIGHT click on the "Epson Stylus CX4600 Series"
icon, chose "Properties", click on "Print Test Page". If this does
not work, the printer is not ready. Don't bother trying to print from
any other software. If it prints from here any other PC software
should print.
If is says "Ready" and you are not printing, the problem is definately
software related.
Hopefully by now you're printing. Let me know how it goes. Can you
get the icon to say "Ready"? Is the little light by the word "On" on
the top of the printer coming up green? Does the little window pop up
showing how much ink is left in the printer cartridges? For that
matter did you load the printer cartridges?Checklist:
1. Printer on and hooked up properly. (make sure you took off all the
stupid tape they pack new printers with)
2. No errors showing under control panel/system/device manager
(possibly could be a USB hub error, not a printer error)
3. Go to my printers, right click on printer, go to properties. check
if it shows offline. print a test page.
4. Do any warning lights come on the printer when you try to print?
Have you tried deleting it and reinstalling? I'd trust the online
drivers better (more up to date)Check under file and make sure that the "use pribter offline" is no check markedTry it out.. just to find out whether the problem is with the driver or not...
start your computer in command prompt mode..by pressing "F8" while its
booting up and selecting "command prompt" option..
when you get the prompt like "c:...." give the following command:
print> name of the port the printer is on..i.e. lpt1, lpt2,..usb
if it prints the test page that means the problem is with the printer
driver..not with the printer or the cable..
I hope it will help to narrow down the problem..Sounds silly, I'm sure, but did you buy a printer cable? Printers no
longer come with cables to the PC. You should have 2 cables; one to
the power, and one to the PC. Check and be sure they are plugged in
correctly too!#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
