Can this be done in python?

  • i'm not sure if this post belongs here but, i didn't know where to post it, i would like to modify, the behavior of my music, so that if there is a song playing, selecting another would add it to de queue instead of stopping the current song, i know that the y button allows for this but i'm thinking about using it for parties in wich it would act as a jukebox, wich means there would be people who don't know too much about computers or xboxes,so i was thinking of using the mouse and i think it would be much more intuitive if they only had to use one button for entering the folders and adding songs to the queue, than using one for the folders and other for the songs, so the real question is can i do this with python? or do i have to dig into the source code of xmbc? is there an easier way of doing this? any help would be much apreciated, thanks , sorry if my english it's not clear... :bomb:


  • hey! i managed to get the funcionallity i wanted, with a python script i made, just as you said jmarshall i had to chek if it was a file or a dir, the only thing i would like to know is if there's a way to use thumbpanels in python, or a way of simulating one cause the list just doesn't look as good as the thumbpanel with the cover art.

  • you need to dig into the code. it won't be hard to find. see guiwindowmusic*.cpp. it's in onmessage() that most stuff is picked up, including mouse clicks.

    have you thought that you'd have to check whether it's a folder or a file when a click is detected? there'd be no way to queue folders in this case, either.

  • you can assign thumbs now to listitems but i dont think you can switch the listcontrol into icon mode yet *ahem madtw :)*

    you can do it the hard way though with control images and labels infront of a blank button.. all arranged in a grid with custom navigation. i do something like this in xstocks and threezee does it in yahoo video search. its alot of trouble though
